EUBA Breakfast Briefing: AI Regulation - The EU AI Act and Beyond

On the 25th of February 2026 the EUBA held a breakfast briefing highlighting AI Regulation and the EU AI Act and Beyond. The session provided practitioners with essential insights into the regulatory landscape in Ireland, compliance obligations, and emerging case law. The three key speakers who lead this briefing were Professor Deirdre Ahern who is Professor of Law and Director of the Technologies, Law and Society Research Group at the School of Law, Trinity College Dublin. Brian McElligott, Head of Artificial Intelligence Team and Partner in Technology Law, Mason Hayes & Curran LLP and Donogh Hardiman BL who all gave insight in regards to key provisions of the EU AI Act, the incoming enforcement regime, recent AI case law developments, anticipated CJEU ruling in Case C-250/25 and practical implications for legal practitioners.
